The mandate of the Department of Sociology is to extend knowledge about and understanding of the social world, and to introduce the discipline of sociology as part of the liberal education mission of Mount Allison. Many of our students have embarked on careers that require such information, call for such skills, and benefit from such ways of understanding. Sociology also expands our horizons, challenges us to think critically about the world around us, and prepares us to participate in that world.
